It has been precisely twenty years today since the first low-floor city bus of Solaris left the factory in Bolechowo near Poznań. Back then the company was made up by barely 36 people; now the headcount has risen to 2500. 56 vehicles rolled out of the factory in the first year of operation; today their number has reached 14,000. Within two decades Solaris has turned into a large, mature enterprise that has contributed a lot to the history of the Polish automotive industry. Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. has won a tender for the supply of 300 intercity buses InterUrbino to Cotral, a public transport company based in Rome. The framework agreement with a value of nearly €110 million stipulates that within the next four years Polish manufacturer will hand over 300 vehicles to the customer. This year Solaris is to complete the first part of the order which most probably will cover 122 buses. Apart from the sale, the transaction includes also maintenance of the vehicles for ten years. » więcej
