Operators from Wejherowo and Grudziądz were the first companies in Poland to receive the new Solaris buses. The passengers of these cities already travel with the new-generation Urbino. By the end of 2015, further units will be handed over to Płock and Olsztyn City Transport.

Wejherowo City Transport is the first Polish owner of Solaris Urbino 12. Just after the official handover the bus started its regular passenger service. In the new, 12-metre Solaris bus, thirty seats are available and fourteen of them are pedestal-free. Whole passenger compartment is air-conditioned and monitored with four wide-view CCTV cameras. In the newly purchased Urbino for Wejherowo the power is supplied by the DAF/PACCAR MX-11 Euro 6 engine which meets the most restrictive fuel emission standards. The energy-efficient and economical LED technology provides interior and exterior lighting.

Both Solaris Urbino 12 for Grudziądz City Transport are equipped with identical drive units as the vehicle for Wejherowo. To ensure safety and comfort of both the passengers and the driver an air-conditioning and monitoring system have been also installed. Moreover, there are three USB chargers available in buses for Grudziądz, enabling to top up phones, tablets and other electronic devices.

‘We are very proud to have our customers’ trust and appreciate their confidence in our new product. Wejherowo and Grudziądz were among the first to order the new Solaris buses. It is therefore our pleasure to deliver these innovative vehicles’, said Dr. Eng. Dariusz Michalak, Deputy CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach.

Soon, further Urbino in the new design will be handed over to Polish customers in Płock and Olsztyn. The operator in Płock purchased two 12-metre buses as well as one new Urbino 18 which will also be the first articulated model of new Solaris in Poland. A total of thirty-five units will go to Olsztyn. The municipal operator of the capital of Warmian-Masurian region ordered six 12-metre and six articulated Urbino of the new generation, while twenty-three Urbino 12 will be delivered to Meteor, the independent bus operator from Olsztyn which has recently won the tender for operating a part of bus routes.

The new construction of the vehicle is expected to lower fuel consumption and operating costs and guarantees highly distinguished aesthetics.
